Australian-made insulated roofing for an iconic sporting facility

Officially opened on 11 March 2024 as part of International Women’s Day celebrations, the Moya Dodd Grandstand at UNSW Village Green is an important addition to the university’s sporting facilities, supporting community sport while recognising progress towards gender equality in sport.

ARCPANEL by Delta was proud to contribute to this landmark project, supplying Australian-made insulated roof panels that combine contemporary design with practical, durable and energy-efficient performance.

Insulated roof panels designed for performance

For the Moya Dodd Grandstand, ARCPANEL by Delta supplied 160mm and 175mm insulated roof panels, helping deliver a roofing solution that supports the architectural vision of the project while providing year-round comfort for spectators.

The lightweight insulated panel system combines roofing, insulation and ceiling finishes into a single efficient solution, offering significant advantages for both designers and builders.

  • Efficient installation – lightweight, prefabricated panels help reduce installation time and on-site labour.
  • Structural simplicity – impressive spanning and cantilever capabilities can reduce the need for additional supporting beams and complex roof structures.
  • Excellent thermal performance – high levels of insulation help improve spectator comfort across the seasons while reducing heat transfer through the roof.
  • Architectural flexibility – the system allows designers to create clean, contemporary roof forms suited to modern sporting and community facilities.
  • Durability – Australian-made panels provide a robust roofing solution designed for demanding, high-use environments.

Supporting sustainable building design

The use of insulated roof panels contributes to the project’s energy-efficiency objectives by combining structural performance and thermal insulation within one integrated roofing system.

Improved thermal performance can help reduce heat gain and reliance on energy-intensive cooling, while the lightweight panel construction can also simplify the supporting structure and installation process.

The result demonstrates how thoughtful material selection can contribute to public facilities that balance architectural impact, comfort, durability and long-term environmental performance.
